Paying Homage To Gorgeous Poetry: Other Worlds Await You May 1, 2015 • 0 Comments I have written before about my love of poems. The ability to convey so much with so few words is an art form I admire very much. I wanted to pay homage to the gorgeous poetry that has touched my life these past few years. I have printed versions that I keep tucked in my journal, and old-fashioned paper calendar. I continue to resist the electronic version of marking my days, preferring to hand write all the things that are happening in my life. When I hold the words contained in these poems in my hands, it often brings a smile, or tear, to my face. Some of my favorites include Rumi, David Whyte, Naomi Shihab Nye, John O’Donohue and Nanna Aida Svendsen. Recently, I came across this lovely by Omid Safi who writes for On Being. You can find the original posting here. If you haven’t discovered the amazing interviews by Krista Tippet yet, well, I can only say that you are missing out on a magical slice of life. As soon as I read this, I knew I had to share it. I read, and re-read the lines, letting the meaning of each one sink in.
