A Healing Trinity of Tools for Self Discovery July 28, 2014 • 0 Comments I call the following the Trinity of Healing, born from the three-legged stool analogy, because we all need a supportive foundation upon which to sit as we heal in the aftermath of loss. Nothing fancy, just three concepts that seem to bubble up to the surface over and over as I travel this path. And since you and I are on this journey together, I felt compelled to share them. Knowing Yourself will imbue you with an invisible super-power. It is one of life’s most unfortunate truths that most of us are essentially strangers to ourselves, living in a state of constant reaction to the world around us, entirely unaware of this incredible power within. To embark upon the wild adventure of digging deep into your own essence and understand the smoldering darkness and brilliant light you find there, will give you a distinct edge when your are healing or facing uncertainty. Life becomes immensely easier when you stand firmly rooted in a place of inner knowing. Your deepest truths, the ones you keep hidden away from sight, will shimmer like diamonds, and illuminate the way when unearthed and mined for their hidden brilliance. Self-knowledge imparts every cell with a wisdom that elevates your ability to live in each moment as it is happening and meet life with an immense measure of curiosity and wonder, rather than constriction and judgment. The path to knowing yourself begins by adopting the humility and patience of an apprentice. Begin here: Learn about who you are and why you do the things you do. The next time you are about to engage in a repetitive behavior, ask yourself why. It might be yelling at your kids, drinking the extra glass of wine or denying the fact you are on the verge of tears. What is really going on underneath it? Knowing Yourself graces you with the ability to always be Choosing Yourself. Choosing Yourself is the sustainable behavior that replenishes and nourishes your essence: the being you know you are within. Every habit, behavior, and thought is carefully cultivated to be in alignment with your path to become and reveal that being. Try this: Before you engage in any behavior, ask yourself: Will this take me closer to my essence and brilliant genius, or further away? In Choosing Yourself, you become your own biggest champion and ally, which then opens the way for the final leg of the trinity, Being Yourself. Being Yourself needs no explanation, but it is an art form and a practice. I’m sure you’ve been in the presence of someone who is entirely at home in body+mind+spirit. They radiate, don’t they? It is deliciously magnetic, yet difficult to define. Perhaps it originates from the unwavering and devoted connection to their true genius, or the lack of fear in expressing the love that emanates from an unfettered and generous heart. No doubt it is the sweet spot, but we complicate it immensely, this business of being ourselves. On a very basic level it is saying yes when we mean yes, and no when we mean no. On a more complex level, it is saying yes when we mean yes, and no when we mean no. Being Yourself means you have arrived where you started, naked and perfect as the day your were born, but you are no longer scared or willing to hide that brilliance. Try this: Practice, practice, practice. Know yourself. Choose yourself. Be yourself. Always. Sending healing love your way. -db Who is Dianna Bonny? Hi, my name is Dianna Bonny.
