Green Healing Goodness: Matcha Tea Benefits

Caffeine and adrenaline don’t play very well together, at least not in my body. I discovered this in the throes of adjusting to my new life as a widow and single parent, as I attempted to drag some of my old habits right along with me.

The caffeinated jolt from my morning coffee, the one I love to drink as I walk the dogs, overwhelmed my system and sent me into orbit. Decaf was almost as bad.

I had to renegotiate a few things that were no longer working for me and surrender to the wisdom of reality, which is never easy. I ignored reality for far too long and it has a painful bite.

Thankfully, in my search for a replacement beverage that felt similar to coffee, I stumbled upon Matcha, a finely milled, high-quality green tea.

Isn’t it gorgeous?

It is truly a spendy habit to indulge in at the coffee house, but if you purchase a tin and make your own it’s reasonable.

This tin lasts me two months:

The most important part is whipping it quickly with the whisk to get it frothy, otherwise the concoction tastes somewhat flat. I will admit that the power of the coffee house steamer can whip up way more froth than me and my whisk.

I add stevia to my brew, and almond milk (only because I’m one of those weird allergy people). In the old days, before I knew what ailed me, I used to add cream and it was fabulous. Because of the powder, Matcha has more substance and flavor than its bitter, green tea cousin.

Matcha tea is another green healing agent chock full of antioxidants to nourish your body. You can drink it as you are making your morning Green Smoothie and ponder the beautiful words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:

“What lies behind us and lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us.”

Wishing you radiant healing.
