“Love Is Alive” by Gary Wright (and Dianna Bonny) July 10, 2013 • 0 Comments The song that was chosen for my transformational singing breakthrough was “Love is Alive,” originally sung by Gary Wright. I practiced with a live version performed by Joan Osborne, which was incredibly deep, soulful and guttural. Very inspiring and freeing to sing. I’m not sure I ever sounded as good as Joan, but by the end of the workshop, I was able to come pretty close. I had the opportunity to re-write some of the lyrics to better express myself so I thought I would share the song here. Love is Alive Well, I think it’s time to get ready To realize just what I have found I have lived only half of what I am It’s all clear to me now My heart is on fire My soul’s like a wheel that’s turnin’ My love is alive My love is alive, yeah, yeah There’s something inside igniting my fire I hope it burns forever ‘Cause what I feel is bringing life to my soul Releasing me, forever My heart is on fire My soul’s like a wheel that’s turnin’ My love is alive My love is alive, yeah, girl, yeah My love is alive Woo hoo, my love is alive There’s a mirror inside of my soul Reflecting the love that you shine on me Hold on to that feeling Let it flow, let it grow, yeah, yeah My heart is on fire My soul’s like a wheel that’s turnin’ My love is alive My love is alive, yeah, girl, yeah My heart is on fire My soul’s like a wheel that’s turnin’ (Let me tell you now) My love is alive My love is alive, yeah, yeah Try singing along — it’s pretty amazing! -db Who is Dianna Bonny?
